NDE2002 will take place in the heart of the Southern Indian city of Chennai in three
venues, all in close proximity to each other: the Taj Connemara Hotel, the Raja Muthiah
Chettiar and Rani Meyammai Halls. These fully air-conditioned venues are equipped
with a capacity to seat over 1000 delegates and hold 100 exhibition stalls.
The city of Chennai is well connected by air, rail and road and is the gateway to all
locations in Southern India. There are prepaid taxi and auto rickshaw services available
at both the airport and the railway station. The venue is a 45-minute drive from the airport
and a 15-minute drive from the railway station.
Chennai or Madras as it was earlier known is a cosmopolitan city with a traditional culture.
There is plenty on offer in the city: restaurants, bookstores, music shows, temples,
museums, and beaches… December is the most pleasant months to visit Chennai. With
the Northeast monsoon over in November, the temperature is about 28 °C during the
day, with clear skies.
